FAQ

We need an in-person tutor.

Is online tutoring even effective?

It sounds strange, but in many cases, online tutoring is much more effective than in-person tutoring. At the start of the pandemic, I was concerned about losing the connection with my students when shifting all of my tutoring online. It actually turned out to be incredibly successful. My in-person students transitioned to the online setting without missing a beat, and my brand new virtual students instantly enjoyed our vibe and started making connections they'd never made before. Here are some other benefits of online tutoring:

  • Flexibility:  Online tutoring allows for more flexibility in terms of scheduling and location. Students can receive tutoring from anywhere with an internet connection, and I can offer more flexible scheduling options to accommodate students' busy schedules.

  • Personalized attention: Online tutoring can offer more one-on-one attention, as I can easily share screens, annotate documents, and provide immediate feedback to students during sessions. Zoom also allows me to save session recordings, which can be reviewed later for further study.

  • Access to technology: Without having to pack up and travel with hardware and assignments, students can work comfortably from home and learn to build new habits in their actual workspace. Online tutoring also allows for the use of various technology tools, such as online whiteboards, interactive quizzes, and educational videos. These tools can enhance the learning experience and make concepts more engaging and interactive.

  • Reduced distractions: Students are actually more focused during online tutoring sessions as they are in a controlled environment without the distractions of a classroom or in-person session.

  • Safety and convenience: Online tutoring provides a safer and more convenient option, eliminating travel time entirely.

What is your rate?

Is it worth it?

For $300, you’ll receive 4 one hour long sessions, planning time catered to your child’s needs, and I will be available via text to answer any questions they might have when working independently. While some tutoring services have lower rates, they typically focus on worksheets or homework and have one standard teaching method, regardless of the students’ various learning styles. My approach is highly personalized and one-on-one. This allows me to truly get to know my students and discover the root cause of their academic misunderstandings. Having a Master’s Degree in Education and over 20 years’ experience, I am confident in my ability to help my students to reach their full potential.

How long will we need tutoring?

It really depends upon your unique situation. When a student builds healthy habits and sees a dramatic change in grades and assignment completion, it's a great time to reassess and decide if you would like to continue.

How can we be sure this will work?

The only way tutoring will work is if the family and the tutor meet halfway. I can provide the tools, tricks, and methods to help a student succeed, but in order for real change to take place, these will need to be implemented at home on a daily basis.
